Events
Our barbershop season begins each August and ends in May. We take a few weeks off to relax each summer. Throughout our season, we dedicate our time and talents to rehearsing in preparation for our annual events and various singouts. And most importantly, we do manage to have a lot of fun along the way.
Following is a list of our events, with an general explanation of what they are, and how you can participate. Also included are some dates for that event for this season. Click on the event name to learn more about it.

Each year, immediately after our Cabaret Show, we invite male singers of all ages to try the Barbershop style, by joining us for our two Christmas events: the Tannenbaum Express and our Christmas Concert (and also our Christmas party). This is a great way to get to know us, with no strings attached. You're not required to officially join the chorus; just come and share our hobby with us. And best of all, you can do it by singing Christmas songs that are familiar to everyone and a lot of fun to sing.
On your calendar, this means 5 or 6 weekly rehearsals. Then the Tannenbaum Express, then the Christmas Concert; we're done around the first or second week of December. Plenty of time left for you to enjoy the Christmas season with your family and loved ones.
If you don't know how to read music, don't worry. Many of us don't either. The only requirement is that you enjoy singing. If you're interested, give us a call at 366-6994 or just visit us at the Elk's Club.
Following is a schedule for this year's All Male Christmas Chorus. Note that our rehearsals tend to move around a bit during this schedule. This is due to two factors: the Packers play games on Monday nights, in which case we move our rehearsal to Tuesday, and we need to rehearse a couple of times with the Chantelles, so we usually go to where they are rehearsing.

On a Saturday in early December, we all board a bus, dubbed the "Tannenbaum Express". We then traverse the area, singing Christmas carols for audiences at various local nursing homes. Just imagine the looks on the faces of the elderly folks we entertain. Their enjoyment and pleasure makes it that much more fun for us! There is no better way to spread the joy of the season than to bring our harmonies of Christmas to those who otherwise may not be able to enjoy such a show. If you'd like to join us, give us a call at 336-6994.

Our annual Christmas Benefit Concert has become a traditional "must-attend" for many families. In the early part of December (usually right after the Tannenbaum Express), we perform our Annual Christmas Concert for the benefit of local food pantries. This is a very special performance, as we are joined by the Chantelles, a ladies chorus. Each of our groups performs our own numbers, and then we join together in one large chorus to perform some unique songs of the season. Our rich sound and harmonies will indeed give you goose bumps.
This concert benefits local organizations that feed hungry families in the Green Bay Area. Admission to this concert is by the donation of non-perishable food items which go directly to local pantries The recipient of this years donations is St Pat's Pantry.Your donations are greatly appreciated by those in need during this joyous time of the year. Make this concert an annual tradition for your family and friends.

Send a valentine that will be remembered for a lifetime! Each year we send out a few of our quartets to deliver Singing Valentines throughout the Green Bay metropolitan area. The recipient is graced with a couple of love songs, a long-stemmed red rose and an instant photograph to help them remember the day. This special gift makes them dance, it makes them smile, it sometimes embarrasses them, and in some cases, it even brings tears to their eyes!

This is the culmination of our season! We begin preparing for each new show at the first rehearsal following the current years' presentation. For over 60 years, we've been entertaining audiences at our annual Harmony Jubilee! We have two shows each spring, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, and they are held at a Green Bay High School, toward the end of April. This themed show features our chorus along with chapter quartets harmonizing in that barbershop style you've come to love. We also have a fantastic guest quartet each year. This guest group is always from among the top 20 Barbershop Quartets in the world, and they will just blow you away with their smooth harmonies! Our guest quartet this year is called "The Nashville Singers".

HARMONY IN THE PARK - June 22nd 7:30pm
This is our final performance of the season, presented in an old-fashioned band concert setting - an "al fresco" performance of some of your favorite tunes, sung in that barbershop style that you love. We then take a vacation for the month of July so that our members can "recharge the batteries" for next season. Bring your lawn chairs - the City does not pad their park benches. |
